The shop

Fourteen years of white lace on L.T. Marg.

Brides & Laaces began as a small counter in Ajmera House and has stayed there ever since — long enough that brides who bought their gown from us now bring in their daughters for a communion dress.

Everything is women's and girls' wear, and everything is fitted here. You come in, try what you like, and we take it in, let it out or make it from scratch until it sits the way it should. Nothing leaves the shop until it fits.

We don't sell online. Lace has a weight and a fall to it that a photograph will never tell you, and a gown you haven't stood up in is a gamble. So the shop is the shop, and you're welcome any working day.

Up close

Corded lace, sequins, and thousands of hand-set crystals.

Photographs flatten all of this. In person you can see where the lace has been cut and rejoined so the pattern runs unbroken over a seam — which is the part that takes the time, and the part that makes a gown look expensive from across a church.

The rails change. These are recent pieces — tap any photo to see it larger, then come in and try the shape on.

What a gown costs depends on the lace, the beadwork and how much of it there is — so the honest answer only arrives once we know what you like. Message us your budget on WhatsApp and we'll tell you straight away what it will get you.

How it works

Three visits, usually.

No appointment needed. Come with one or two people whose opinion you actually want, and give yourself six to eight weeks before the date.

Come and try

Walk in and try on whatever catches your eye. Most brides find their shape in the first hour — it's rarely the one they pictured.

We take your measurements

Once you've chosen, we measure and mark. If you want a change in the neckline, sleeves or train, we'll tell you then what's possible.

Fit, adjust, collect

Come back for a fitting with your shoes and inner wear. We adjust on the spot, and you collect the gown pressed and packed.

Questions

Before you come in.

Anything else, just message us — it's the fastest way to reach the shop.

Ask on WhatsApp

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk in any working day and we'll take you through the rails. If you're coming on a Saturday or close to wedding season, a quick WhatsApp before you leave home saves you waiting.

How much is a wedding gown?

Gowns start at ₹6,000 and go up with the lace and the beadwork. Send us your budget and we'll tell you honestly what it covers before you travel.

Can I order online or have it delivered?

We don't sell online. A gown has to be tried on, stood up in and walked in before it's yours — and it has to be fitted. Everything happens at the shop.

How early should I come before the wedding?

Six to eight weeks is comfortable for alterations. If you want a gown made to your own design, come two to three months ahead. We've turned dresses around faster — ask, and we'll be honest about whether it's possible.

Do you alter the dress to fit me?

Yes. Alterations on a gown bought from us are part of the price. Bring the shoes and inner wear you plan to wear on the day to the fitting — the hemline depends on them.

Do you make dresses for children?

We do — First Communion dresses, baptism dresses and shawls, flower girl dresses and small white dresses for babies.

Do you sell menswear or suits?

No. Brides & Laaces is women's and girls' wear only.

Where exactly is the shop?

Shop No. 2, 274 Ajmera House, opposite G.T. Hospital, L.T. Marg, Mumbai 400002 — a few minutes from Marine Lines and CSMT stations. Directions and map.
